The Rescue Project

As we have said here before, we passionately believe that the most urgent evangelistic task is the compelling proclamation of the gospel in such a way that people are overwhelmed and brought to a decision to entrust themselves to Jesus Christ. This task is all the more urgent with every passing day.
Inspired by this conviction, we led a retreat this past weekend in metro Detroit that was filmed by 4 PM Media, creators of the vastly popular “The Wild Goose,” with Fr. Dave Pivonka.
St. Paul tells us the gospel is the power of God for salvation. In other words, it’s not just news, let alone ordinary news. The gospel is the explosive, extraordinary, and life-changing news of Jesus’ defeat of the power of Sin and Death. It’s the news that gives hope, something that is increasingly in short supply right now.
In our travels across the nation these past few years, we have witnessed the overwhelming impact the gospel is having on everyone who hears it. People are hungry for truly good news and for an understanding of the mission that God has uniquely entrusted to each of us. And again and again, we hear people say to us, “Why have I never heard this before?”
In response to both our conviction and what we have seen and heard around the country, we are creating The Rescue Project. The Rescue Project is a multi-week video series, complete with companion resources for facilitators and participants. It tells the story that is the gospel, offers an opportunity for a Spirit-filled response to what is proclaimed, and catapults us out into the world on mission to go and rescue others.
The Rescue Project will be available around Easter 2022, and is intended for use in everything from RCIA, men’s and women’s ministries, other parish initiatives and homes. In other words, it’s for everyone: people in the pews, the fallen away, and the “nones”. And because we have received so much freely from the Lord, we will freely make this available to everyone.
